Texting and driving is not a good mix

The Academy of Road Safety is inviting you to attend our Car Parade Not for Profit Event on Thursday, 22nd of December 2016

EVENT OUTLINE

The Academy of Road Safety is inviting you to attend our Car Parade Not for Profit Event on Thursday, 22nd of December 2016. The car parade will involve our driving instructors meeting at McDonalds Penrith Panthers from 11.30am to raise awareness and funds for Blue Datto before the Car Parade travels to McDonalds Richmond where the drivers will raise further awareness and funds for Blue Datto, with the day finishing at 1.30pm.  Our instructors will collect all donations in a bucket, and raffle tickets and other information will be provided

EVENT THEME

Our theme for this event is to stop mobile phone use while driving. This subject is a current issue in NSW and regular Government campaigns are created in order to tackle it. In recent news, from the 1st of December 2016, ‘P2 licence holders must not use any function of a mobile phone while driving or riding, or when stationary but not parked’ (Transport for NSW, 2016).

We will be conducting educational talks on this matter on the day of the event. This will help parents, members of the community and young drivers understand the seriousness of using a mobile phone while driving and that it can be a cause for a fatal road accident. Our message is simple: ‘Texting and driving is not a good mix’.

WHY BLUE DATTO FOUNDATION?

Firstly, at the Academy of Road Safety we firmly believe in the positive contribution towards not for profit foundations. In particular, Blue Datto is in the driver education industry and shares the same goal of helping change the attitudes and behaviours of young people as passengers and drivers. Members of the Blue Datto team will be in attendance on the day.
